About me

As a lawyer with a doctorate, I worked for almost 20 years in leading positions at German and international universities. Most recently as Director at the European University Institute (2020-2024), previously as Chancellor of the TU Berlin (2017-2020), as Chancellor of the Vietnamese-German University in Saigon (2014-2017), as Chancellor of the University of Rostock (2011-2014) and as Chancellor’s Representative of the University of Hamburg (2007-2011). At the same time, I was spokesperson for the State Chancellors‘ Conferences in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (2011 – 2014) and Berlin (2017 – 2020) as well as a member and chair of various university chancellors’ working groups. I have also sat on numerous other supervisory bodies of scientific and science-related institutions, including as a member of the Executive Board and later the Supervisory Board of Rostock University Hospital, the Administrative Board of Rostock and Berlin Student Services and the Supervisory Board of a Fraunhofer Institute.
